1. Course Outline

This course is designed to help participants to better function as a team. Teams are an important building block of successful organisations. Whether the focus is on service, quality, cost, value, speed, efficiency, performance, or other similar goals, teams are the basic unit that supports most organisations. With teams at the core of corporate strategy, your success as an organisation can often depend on how well you and other team members operate together. How are your problem-solving skills? Is the team enthusiastic and motivated to do its best? Do you work well together?

These are important questions that organisations should focus on in order to better understand their teams.

Emphasis is being made on training in order to enhance the public service. Therefore, it is becoming important that the different Ministries work as a team in order to help the Government achieves its vision, which is, making the public service efficient and creative.

 

2. Course Objective:

The objectives of the course are, inter alia, to: 

  1. Define Teams;
  2. Understand the importance of having a shared vision;
  3. Develop conscious authority;
  4. Establish team norms;
  5. Work as a team and its importance;
  6. Define your tour team player type;
  7. Build team trust;
  8. Understand the stages of team development;
  9. Develop techniques to become a good team player.

 

3. Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the value of working as a team;
  2. Understand how it is important to develop team norms, ground rules, and team contracts;
  3. Define team player styles and how it can be used effectively;
  4. Develop ways to build team trust;
  5. Understand the stages of team development and help their team move through them;
  6. Understand the critical role communication skills play in building and maintaining a team atmosphere;
  7. Develop ways that team members can be involved and grow in a team setting;
  8. Coordinate individual activities towards a shared vision.

 

4. Mode of Delivery:

Course are meaningful and interactive, using a workshop-style approach, visual learning for promoting information retention, stimulation of decision making situation through case studies and role play, lectures and games for effective fun filled learning.

It is expected that participants reflect on the service delivery in their respective organisation before attending the workshop.
